- iFood
- The most popular app
- To register with iFood, you need a Brazilian phone number. You can create a virtual phone number to receive SMS. This doesn’t work on the website, as it requires a WhatsApp number
- It will also ask for a CPF number at the end during payment
- Rappi
- No need for a local phone number or CPF, but it's less popular and offers fewer food options
- You need a CPF to buy online, use iFood, buy a SIM card in official stores (at newsstands you can still buy without CPF), rent a car, pay for parking, buy tickets, sign contracts, get a gym membership, access healthcare, open bank accounts, use self-service laundry, etc.
You’ll need the full names of both parents exactly as they appear on your birth certificate.
Old instructions mention sending emails — in 2025, this no longer works.
- In your country — go to the Brazilian embassy
- In Brazil
- Fill out the form and print the confirmation page. It's free
Alternatively: Go to a local post office (Correios) with your passport, pay R$7 in cash, and they’ll fill out the form for you and give you a receipt
- Go to Receita Federal. Bring:
- Your passport
- The printed confirmation page (or the receipt from Correios)
It opens at 9:00 AM, but arrive by 8:30 AM — otherwise, seats may run out. No appointments needed. It may take 1–2 hours.
They’ll email your CPF in 3–7 days
Foreigners with an address abroad must manually update their CPF data every year using the Receita Federal app
